Magdalene Sewing Centre Pte Ltd has been supplying school uniforms to Singapore schools for the past 20 years and is one of the leading suppliers in the nation. We believe that quality school attire play a role in the learning environment as dressing smartly is part and parcel of good image and discipline at school.

The Magdalene Sewing Centre (MSC) Pte Ltd, formed and registered in 2003, is the brainchild of an Italian Canossian nun, Sr. Marcellina, gifted in teaching sewing and dressmaking.
Sr. Marcellina had wanted to be a missionary since young. She firmly believed that one could not achieve anything without some suffering and that joining the convent required one to give up one’s worldly possessions and make other sacrifices. She had her calling and left for Singapore in Dec 1954.
Sr. Marcellina’s greatest joy comes from educating the poor. A skilled dressmaker, she was put in charge of MSC managed by the Canossian Sisters. There she managed to secure sewing contracts for the girls studying there.
At the now-closed Catholic Welfare Vocational Training Centre, she accepted girls who dropped out of primary schools. There she taught them vocational skills such as sewing and other subjects.
Sr. Marcellina also conducted dressmaking courses in the evenings for young working adults and homemakers. Most of the ladies who attended were earning decent wages and wanted to take the opportunity to learn a new, efficient and moden method of dressmaking in which Sr. Marcellina specialised.

Building on the foundation that Sr. Marcellina had established over the years, MSC today continues to provide employment for females from low-income families. MSC also provides opportunity for homemakers with young children to work from home so that they can continue to receive some earnings while looking after their families. Most of our ladies have been with MSC for more than 20 years.

This can be evidenced by the workmanship, fine finish and superior tailoring techniques, using only colour-fast and high durable fabrics MSC offers a wide range of school uniform sizes so as to ensure that her students of any build are outfitted smartly. This reduces the need for her customers to spend the extra money on alterations.
